FPA Show Committee
The Show Committee, chaired by Billy Williams, not only plans our own intra-club shows such as the Car Show Crawfish Boil and Car Show Picnic, but also develops the theme, coordinates the FPA member participants, and produces the Award Winning Display at the Annual World of Wheels Car Show held in the Superdome. FPA members also participate in most of the New Orleans area Car Shows sponsored by other area Automotive Enthusiasts. Look for the FPA Logo at a show near you!

Picnic Cruise, April 2006
by Billy Williams
The
cruise/picnic was really nice. We
met at the Pontchatrain Center Sunday April 2, 2006.
We pulled out around 12:30 PM we went to the Sonic in LaPlace. We picked up a few more members then cruised back to
Kenner City Park. We had around
twenty-five cars in the cruise and everyone seemed to have a nice time.
It turned out to be a really nice day for the cruise.
Thanks to all who participated in the event. The one 's who didn't
get to show for this cruise really missed a good time.
A few members said they would like to try to schedule another one.
The Show Committee will be getting together soon to see what other events
we can plan. If you have any
suggestions to something you would like to try to do as a group, let someone on
the Show Committee know about it or let us know you are interested in coming to
our Committee meeting and we will let you know when we are scheduled to have our
next meeting. We will keep you
informed to what and when we schedule something else.
It's that time of the year when you start hearing about car shows held around town. If you hear of any, please let us know at the next meeting. We will give a few members a call and try to set up something so we can all meet to relax and just have a good time.

24th Annual
Crawfish Boil and Car Sh
We had a great turn out, the
weather was beautiful, the crawfish were awesome, and the cars entered in the
show spectacular. We had trucks; cars and even a restored fire truck
entered the show. Everyone in attendance had a great day. Once again
the FPA prevailed with Friendship and Fast Fords, Forever!!!!
To all of the folks who helped pull this event together, again, my sincere
appreciation and heartfelt thanks go out to one and all.

Can
you find yourself in the group shot?
2005
by Terry Hibbard
This year’s show had more high-end show
vehicles than last years. They have
implemented a new award honoring Jim Johnson who died last year.
With this award there is a cash prize of $2000 versus the old Best of
Show cash award of $500. This cash award brought out more high-end cars to the show.
There even is talk to raising this amount, as some of the other World
Wheels events class 5A shows are more. I
image there will be a push to get a sponsor of this award and this will make it
easier to raise the amount to match other shows of this caliber.
I want to thank the following FPA members for helping with
the event: Damon Cuccia, Clyde
Guillot, Reggie Daigle, Meg Daigle, Darrel Devenny, Daniel Maine, Peter Foles,
Donald Mautemps, Jason Honeman, Ronald Iannazzo, Chris Lacoste, Joe Ledet, Gary
Marino, Ken Nunez, Mike Reed, Billy Rhodes, Charlie Robinson, Don Sondes, Donald
Stout Sr., Billy Williams, Charles Williams, Jeremy Williams, Debbie Moran,
Tommy Moran and Kevin Ortega Sr.. I
also did not take a list Thursday; so if I missed your name, contact me via
email or at the February General Meeting.
The good news is that the club won the “Best Club Display” award again this
year. This was even with a
significantly reduced amount of money spent on this year’s display.
However, next year may be quite different as one of the audio vendors had
a “killer” display but did not qualify since he had only 2 cars in the
display. (Rules state you need three cars in the display to qualify as
a club.) The audio vendor and the
Jazz Amusement Park financed this display.
The other good news is that our 5 vehicles that were in the display also
got two “Best in Class” awards.
Here is the awards won by the vehicles in the display: Meg and Reggie Daigle, 19641/2 Mustang, “Outstanding in Class”, Restored Convertible; Clyde Guillot, 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, “Best in Class”, Restored Hardtop 1968-1972; Clyde Guillot, 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, “Outstand in Class”, Restored Hardtop 1968-1972; Chris Lacoste, 1968 Mustang, “Class Award”, Conservative Hardtop 1968-1969; Billy Williams, 1954 F-100, “Best in Class”, Conservative Pick-up 1953-1956.
Another FPA member also did well at the show. Justin Bordelon won “Outstanding in Class” with his 1972 Grand Torino Sport in the Mild Hardtop class. He also won “Outstanding” in the Non-electrical display class. The big award was the “Best Custom” award he won. This is quit an accomplishment with some of the other vehicles that were in this class. Here are Clyde Guillot’s two winning cars.

Thanks to everyone who helped set-up and tear-down the display this year.
