Drag Committee

 The Drag Committee is chaired by Robert Achor and is responsible for organizing and producing all the FPA drag races. FPA Drags are open to all vehicles except motorcycles with select events open to Ford powered vehicles only. The Ford vs. Chevy Drags are produced in partnership with Gulfport Dragway pitting 100 Fords and 100 Chevys in Bracket-style Elimination racing. Spectators are invited to all FPA Drags. Tickets, which include Pit access, are always available at the gate.

First drag race for the FPA in '08 at Gulfport!

 The Ford Performance Association presents the St. Patricks Drags to be held at Gulfport Dragway in Mississippi on Saturday Night, March 15th, 2008. This will be the first event for the FPA for '08 and the first event for the FPA Drag Racing Championship. Event Info is provided below.

- Gates will open at 5pm, Tech and Time Trails will start as soon as the gates open, First Round of eliminations will begin at 8pm

- Spectators fees are $10 per person, children 6 yrs. of age and under are $5

- Four classes of 1/4 mile bracket drag racing will be running with trophies and cash payouts in all classes!

- Bracket 1 will feild 11.49 and faster cars, $35 entry fee with $200 to the winner,  20 car minumum to have full payouts for class!

- Bracket 2 will feild 11.50 and slower cars, $35 entry fee with $200 to the winner,  20 car minumum to have full payouts for class!

- Street Bracket will feild street cars with DOT tires and Mufflers required for class, $25 entry fee with $100 to the winner,  20 car minumum to have full payouts for class!

- Truck Bracket will feild Trucks based drag vehicles, $25 entry fee with $100 to the winner,  20 car minumum to have full payouts for class!

- If vehicle requirments per class are not met, classes will be combined at promoter's discretion

- All makes and models of cars and trucks are welcomed and encouraged to race!

3 Low Tech Steps to do well in the FPA Drag Racing Championship. by SEE ARE
1.BE THERE This means get ready the day before, get lots of sleep, wake up early (preferably without a hangover). Don't forget anything needed, race car keys, gas to run 10 rounds, helmet, etc.
2.HAVE A PLAN Burnout & launch plan, RPM limits for burnout & shift points. Check engine temperture, oil pressure and most of all know exactly what light and when to go,for that perfect reaction time.
3.BE LUCKY With the first two conquered you may have something go wrong, so you will need some luck. Not alot, just a little more than your opponent. NOTE******* If winning , beware of "helment shrink". this can ruin your concentration. (3-3-01)
